April AI explained.

Ask about your plan, food, progress or where to go next. April can use what you have logged and remembered to make the answer useful to you.

How it works

What April AI can use

April uses the relevant parts of your plan and records when you ask for help. You control saved memory, chat history and connected health access.

Your plan and workouts.

Your current plan, recent workouts, completed sets, equipment and preferences can help April answer training questions.

Meals and daily totals.

April can use your food log, calorie and macro totals, preferences and Cabinet ingredients when you ask about nutrition.

Changes over time.

Recent workouts, body measurements and milestones can help April discuss changes in your progress.

Health data you choose to share.

Connect a supported health app or watch to ask about recent sleep, heart rate and activity. April tells you when a reading is missing or out of date.

There may be information missing.

April cannot feel your symptoms, check your form or verify the label on your food. Even a confident answer can be wrong or based on incomplete information.

Choose an AI model

Choose DeepSeek V4.1 Flash or GPT-6 Luna. DeepSeek offers Off, Low and High reasoning. Luna starts with reasoning Off when you select it, with higher settings available in the model menu. Your model, reasoning setting, searches and attachments all count towards your shared usage.

Find the nutrition. Review the food. Log it.

Ask April to search for nutrition information online and make a food log card. A request can include several foods, and a follow-up such as “I had two slices” can use the food you were just discussing.

Keep the label close.

When a usable label is available, the card carries the serving and nutrients with a source link. Open citations in the answer or the Sources panel to inspect the pages.

A useful estimate, clearly marked.

April can estimate from a photo, description or incomplete source. It warns that estimates can be wrong and asks whether you want an estimated card. That is separate from saving the food.

Nothing is silently logged.

Check the food, portion, macros and meal before confirming. Creating a card does not change your diary. Multi-food confirmation saves the selected items together.

Review an adjustment too.

Ask about changing today’s or tomorrow’s workout. Review the suggested changes before applying them. If you have already started the workout, completed sets stay unchanged.

A route starts with a conversation.

With April Ultra, ask for a route from where you are, a short walk or a ride with a stop along the way. With location permission, April can use your phone’s current position. Review the map in chat, then open it in Maps.

Tell April where you want to go.

Give a destination, add stops or describe the route you have in mind. Follow up to change it without starting again.

Take the map with you.

Track runs, rides, walks and hikes. See distance, time, pace and speed, then save the activity to your history.

Ask about your activity.

Your logged outdoor sessions can be part of the conversation, alongside your workouts and meals.

How a chat works

Choose a chat, ask your question and review the answer. You can follow up or try another model whenever you like.

01

Open a chat.

Start a new chat, continue one from your history or branch from an earlier answer. Use Temporary Chat when you do not want to save the conversation in your history.

02

Ask your question.

Type your question and add a supported attachment if it helps. Choose a model and any response options available in the app.

03

April adds relevant information.

April uses the parts of your plan, recent activity and saved preferences that help answer your question.

04

See what is happening.

See when April is searching, reading a page or preparing a card. Text arrives as it is ready, followed by maps, food cards or interactive visuals when they help.

05

Keep the conversation going.

Ask a follow-up, retry an answer, branch the conversation or switch models. You can delete the chat whenever you want.

You can use another part of April while it replies. Come back to the same chat to pick up the answer. If the connection drops, April checks for the result when you return.

Chat and privacy controls

Continue where you left off.

Saved chats stay in your history until you delete them or your account. A conversation can contain up to 500 messages, or 250 questions and replies.

Chat without saving it to history.

Temporary Chat does not use saved memory or past chats. An encrypted copy of the result may be kept for up to 24 hours to recover interrupted delivery. It is not listed in your history and expires after that period.

Bring back what matters.

With saved memory enabled, April can keep useful preferences you share, including how you like replies to sound. Relevant details can guide later conversations without being repeated in every answer. Review, add or remove memories in AI data and privacy. Temporary Chat leaves them out.

Add up to 10 attachments.

Use photos, supported files or the in-chat camera. Zoom, take one photo or choose Take multiple, then review thumbnails before sending. OpenAI analyses attachments and a limited description reaches your selected model. Supported saved chats keep images private so you can reopen or download them on your devices. Reattach other files or images that older app versions discarded. Temporary Chat keeps no image originals on April's servers.

Search when it helps.

Request search with the plus button or in your message; April can also choose it when current information is needed. Open inline citations or the Sources panel, with site names and logos. Search services receive the public query or page needed for the lookup.

Make April feel like yours.

Choose your response style, manage memories and update plan preferences in Settings. You can also turn interactive visuals, sounds and haptics on or off.

One allowance across the models.

The usage meter shows five-hour and weekly limits shared across April’s AIs. Switching models does not reset them. Higher reasoning, longer conversations, searches and attachments can use more; check the reset times shown in the app.

Questions about April AI

Does every answer use my health data?

No. Connected-health access is optional. A limited recent summary can be included only when your permissions, the feature and your question allow it.

What happens to a Temporary Chat?

Your message is still processed to produce an answer and may pass through safety checks. The chat is kept out of your history and does not use saved memory or past chats. An encrypted result may remain for up to 24 hours to recover interrupted delivery.

Can April AI browse the web?

Yes. Request a search or let April choose when fresh information is useful. Check the sources and dates: search results can be incomplete or wrong, and some pages cannot be read.

Can April open a screen for me?

Yes. Ask for a supported destination, such as today’s workout, Nutrition or Progress. April can open the relevant screen or prepare a card for you to review. Changes that need your confirmation still wait for it.

Where are Qwen and DeepSeek Max?

Qwen is no longer selectable, and DeepSeek Max is currently unavailable. Choose DeepSeek Off, Low or High, or use one of Luna’s available reasoning settings. An older conversation can still show its original model label. The historical Qwen guide explains the change.

Can it log any food from the internet?

April can look for available nutrition information and prepare a log card, but cannot guarantee a complete or correct label for every food. If it uses an estimate, the card is marked accordingly and you decide whether to proceed. Always check portions and packaging.

Can I trust an attachment analysis?

Use it as help with understanding the attachment, not as a confirmed identification or diagnosis. Image quality, framing and missing details can affect the answer.

Who processes AI requests?

Your selected AI provider processes the conversation. OpenAI also helps analyse supported attachments. See what is shared in the Privacy Policy.
